Water Baptism

After a person has been Born Again, then the next thing that should be done according to the scriptures is water baptism.

So, what is water baptism and why should I care?

Water Baptism is the physical act of getting in some water and having another believer place you under the water and making a statement such as
“I baptize you in the name of the YHWH, the Son Yeshua, and the Holy Spirit".

***WATER BAPTISM DOES NOT GRANT SALVATION***

It is only a symbol of salvation, not the salvation itself. Although Water Baptism does not Save the Soul, we are commanded to be baptized by Yeshua.

Sprinkling water or full submersion?

Which way is right? Let’s look at a scripture where John the Baptist is speaking to the people and review the root words in the Greek Language...

Matthew 3:11

I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. But he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire

NOTES

  • Repentance #3341
    • Reversal of one’s decision
  • Unto # 1519
    • To or into indicating a point reached or entered
  • Baptize/d, baptizeth, baptizest, baptizing #907
    • “to make whelmed” (fully wet)
  • From root word # 911
    • “To cover wholly with water”

Therefore, when looking at the key words in the scripture on the subject of baptism we see that it is full submersion in water, and it is after one has repented and believed in the Lord Yeshua

Q & A

Q. Who can baptize?
A. Anyone who is a Christian.

I recommend someone that is older and wiser in the Word of God, however, anyone who has made Yeshua their Lord has the authority to use His name to baptize.

Q. Where can I be Baptized?
A. Anywhere there is water.

You may want to find an area deep enough to be fully submersed. If you have a shallow pool to use then you could sit and have the baptizor lay you down just under the surface and then help you back up.

Water Baptism Cheat Sheet

  • Find some water (lake, pool, ocean, etc.)
  • Have another Believer with you.
  • Plan on bringing a change of clothes and a towel to dry yourself.
  • Have the Baptizer place you in the water for the Baptism

For Example: As you are standing or sitting in the water, the Baptizer would say something like:
"I baptize you in the name of the Father Jehovah, the Son Yeshua, and the Holy Spirit".
Then you would be placed under the water's surface for a moment then raised out of the water.

It is important to use the actual names; not just saying in the name of the son, but to actually use His name Yeshua.

Matthew 28:19

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

NOTES

  • The words: the father, the son, and the Holy Ghost are words showing their positions of authority not their name.
  • God the Father: Jehovah or Yahweh
  • God the Son: Yeshua
  • God the Spirit: Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost

  • Mark 16:15-16

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

    Acts 2:38

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yeshua Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

    Acts 8:12

But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Yeshua Christ, they were baptized, both men and women

    Acts 8:36-39

And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Yeshua Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
