Keep The Commandments

However...

  • The Law of Moses was never done away with
  • We will be judged in reference to the Law of Moses
  • No, I'm not implying we need animal sacrifices
  • If you're not keeping The Law of Moses, You better rethink your position with the Lord

Let me be very clear. I am not suggesting that the "Law of Moses" is what saves us, but the belief that the Laws were done away with and no longer valid today is a lie

People are teaching that Grace began at the Cross of Yeshua, but this is not true

Grace did not begin at the Cross of Yeshua.

The Lord is the same Yesterday, Today, & Forever

His grace has always been there. (see below scriptures)

Let's review what is written in the scriptures about these things...

IS THERE EVIDENCE OF LAW BEFORE MOSES?

GENESIS 4:1-4

4 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. 2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. 4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

NOTES:

  • Although the law had not yet been given through Moses, Cain and Able still understood how to give an offering to God. Offrening are part of the laws given to the Levites.

  • GENESIS 7:1-3

7 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. 2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. 3 Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.

    NOTES:

  • Before the Law of Moses there was knowledge of clean and unclean

  • GENESIS 8:20-22

20 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. 22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

    NOTES:

  • Noah, after the flood built an altar and gave an offering to god as described in the Law of Moses.

  • GENESIS 26:4-5

4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; 5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

    NOTES:

  • Abraham is credited with Keeping the Law hundreds of years before Moses was given it on Mount Sinai

  • WHAT WAS WRITTEN IN THE OLD TESTAMENT ABOUT THE LAW?

    DEUTERONOMY 4:1-2

Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you. 2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

    NOTES:

  • We do not have the right to add or take away from His Commandments

  • DEUTERONOMY 12:32

32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

    NOTES:

  • We do not have the right to add or take away from His Commandments

  • EXODUS 12:49

49 One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.

    NOTES:

  • There is not a law for Jew and a different law for Gentiles

  • Exodus 16:4-5,…25-31

4 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. 5 And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily…. 25 And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field. 26 Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none. 27 And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. 28 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws? 29 See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. 30 So the people rested on the seventh day. 31 And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.

    NOTES:

  • The Lord will test us to see if we Keep His Commandments

  • Deuteronomy 6:24-25

And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. 25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us.

    NOTES:

  • Obeying the commandments is righteousness

  • DID YESHUA TALK ABOUT THE LAW?

    MATTHEW 7:21-23

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

    NOTES:

  • The word for iniquity here is Lawlessness
  • Even though these people are able to perform these miracles in Yeshua's Name, He still cast them out for not follwing the law

  • MATTHEW 5:17-19

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

    NOTES:

  • If all was fulfilled at the cross, then all the prophesies of the Old Testament “Isaiah, Jeremiah, etc…” have to be done as well, and we know there are still more prophecies to be fulfilled
  • If the commandments are going to be no longer valid, then why would he talk about people who teach them shall be call great in the kingdom and the oposite for those who break them?

  • MATTHEW 23:1-6

Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, 2 Saying

The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: 3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. 4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. 5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

    NOTES:

  • If the Law of Moses is to be done away with after His Deth, then why is he instructing everyone to obey the Law of Moses?

  • MATTHEW 24:12

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

    NOTES:

  • The word for iniquity here is Lawlessness

  • MATTHEW 23:23

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

    NOTES:

  • Here Yeshua considers tithing as part of the Law.
  • If your church still keeps tithing, then why not the whole law?

  • MATTHEW 28:18-20

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

    JOHN 14:12-21

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

DID THE DISCIPLES TALK ABOUT THE LAW?

    1 JOHN 5:1-3

Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

    NOTES:

  • Your fruits will show... if you love Him, you keep His Commandments

  • 1 JOHN 3:

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

    NOTES:

  • If there is no Law then there is no Sin.

  • 1 JOHN 3:22-24

22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

    NOTES:

  • If we are not keeping these commandments and living the lifestyle He wants, then maybe this explains why some prayers are not answered?

  • 1 JOHN 2:1-7

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.

    NOTES:

  • John gives a stern warning about saying you know Yeshua but don't keep His commandments
  • We should walk as He (Yeshua) walked, if He kept His Father's commandments, shouldn't we?

  • REVELATION 12:17

17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

  • Satan hates those Keep the Commandments & the Faith of Yeshua

  • REVELATION 14:12-13

12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

    NOTES:

  • REVELATION 15:2-3

15 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God. 2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. 3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

    NOTES:

  • The Song of Moses

  • REVELATION 22:13-14

13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

    NOTES:

  • His commandments are noted as the deciding factor on your access or denial to the Tree of Life

  • IS THERE EVIDENCE OF TORAH LAW AND SABBATH DAYS AFTER THE DEATH OF YESHUA?

    MATTHEW 24:20

But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

    NOTES:

  • Yeshua is giving a prophecy about something after His death on the cross and still calls upon the Sabbath day

  • ACTS 13:14-16

14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down. 15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on. 16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

    NOTES:

  • Paul still honored the Sabbath

  • ACTS 13:42-44

42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath. 43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. 44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

    NOTES:

  • Paul honored the Sabbath
  • Jews and Gentiles honored the Sabbath day

  • ACTS 17:1-2

Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews: 2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

    NOTES:

  • Paul honored the Sabbath

  • ACTS 18:1-4

After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth; 2 And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them. 3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers. 4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

  • Paul honored the Sabbath
  • Jews and Gentiles honored the Sabbath day

  • PROPHECIES OF LAW AND SABBATH DAYS IN THE FUTURE

    ISAIAH 2:1-4

The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

    NOTES:

  • A prophecy about the future which contains the Sabbath day

  • ISAIAH 66:22-24

For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. 24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh. (see Mark 9:47-48)

  • JUSTIFIED BY FAITH & WORKS

    JAMES 2:17-26

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

    NOTES:

  • Faith + Works, not just faith, and not just works
