Anointing Oil

The most common use for anointing oil has probably been anoint those who are sick when praying for healing; but did you know it has other uses as well?

Anointing oil can be used to sanctify a property and building for use as a place of worship. It can be used bless items used in the church, such as the altar. It can also be used on your personal home to bless it and help keep evil spirits out. The oil can also be used as a tool to drive out demons from a person. Another use is to anoint a person to leadership such as a pastor, worship leader, etc... So what does the scripture say about its use?

When The Lord gave Moses the Laws and His instructions on how to construct the temple; He also gave Moses a recipe for anointing oil. There is a severe warning from The Lord about this oil and its uses. This warning is very strict and causes many to fear trying to replicate the Anointing oil in modern times.

Honestly, I am not sure either way on this. I do not have the oil made but I have read claims from people who say they did and God blessed them by using this specific formula in obedience to the scriptures.

I can only say that if you want to find the oil, PRAY and be sure it is the Holy Spirit leading you to do so and not just your desire to have the oil. If you do get the oil ONLY use it the way it is instructed to do so in scriptures: for anointing someone for healing, leadership, or items to be used in the church (and only in the church) like an altar.

Personally, if I can find the exact ingredients; I am not afraid to gather them together to make it. The reason I say this is; I have every intention on respecting His Holy Anointing Oil the same way I respect Him. I trust Him with my soul, and if He leads me to the oil, then I’ll trust Him with the Oil too. In the meantime, I have used one or more of the following: Olive Oil, Frankincense, Myrrh, and Pomegranate.

Scriptures Concerning Oil

Exodus 30:22-33

Moreover the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin: And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil. And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony, And the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick and his vessels, and the altar of incense, And the altar of burnt offering with all his vessels, and the laver and his foot. And thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy. And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office. And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an holy anointing oil unto me throughout your generations. Upon man's flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you. Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people.

1 Samuel 16:13

Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

James 5:14-15

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: (Yeshua / Yeshua) And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Anointing Your Home

  • Ask the Lord to cleanse you of any unconfessed sins you may have forgotten and ask His Spirit to lead you
  • You’ll need some oil, but since most of us don't have the Holy Anointing Oil as described in the book of Exodus; I personally use one of the following: pure olive oil, myrrh, or frankincense.
  • Get a container. (I personally use a glass jar with a cork top)
  • Ask the Lord to Bless the oil in the name of Yeshua
  • After the oil has been blessed, only use it for anointing.
  • Go to the windows and the doors of the house and place a small amount of oil on the finger and touch the oil on the top and sides of the doors and windows. (A little goes a long way)
  • Do the same for the doors that lead to the outside (Note: I do the front and back doors on the outside of the house not from the inside of the house) See the feast of Passover in Exodus 12
  • Finishing with a prayer, while lifting your hands in the air, ask the Lord to bless the house

Remember, Satan and his Demons will try to re-enter the house, if you feel there is a spirit inside of your house then speak to Lord about it and ask Him to remember the Anointing and that this is His house and the house of His children and ask Him for the victory. Then, (with the guidance of the Holy Ghost) drive the Evil spirits out of the house in the Name of Yeshua.

There have been times when I was commanding the evil spirit to leave it would not until I physically opened the door and spoke again then I would feel cold sensation move past me followed by a feeling of peace from the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit is the only spirit in the house there will be a sense of peace & rest.

When asking the Lord to bless the house, lift up your hands. This act of lifting up your hands is a Holy act in itself and can release the blessing of God.

John 14:26

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

NOTES

  • As in all things, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as to how to anoint and pray over your home or any person; but here are some rules of thumb to get you started.
  • Remember the Holy Spirit is a teacher as well; always ask Him to teach you and to lead you to the Truth.

  • Psalms 141:2

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
